Preschool to close - June 2024
Preschool to close - June 2024
December 6, 2023
Dear Fairgreen Families,
"To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven".
This letter is being sent to all our current families sharing that my season as Director of Fairgreen Preschool will come to an end in June of 2024. It is a decision that has come with tremendous difficulty. It is a decision that has taken me 2+ years to finalize, but one that I have to make for reasons of self-preservation.
Fairgreen, all the children, all the families, all the teachers have filled my life with years of happiness beyond measure. Those that know me best know this preschool is my passion. It has been my harbor through the best and most challenging life events. My life, and the life of my family, are in a place where I need to be more present. The balance of this directorship and the time necessary for personal responsibilities are not simultaneously sustainable.
I embrace all the joys that December - May have in store. Learning through play will continue. Friendships will strengthen and laughter will fill our classrooms as it does every day. Rex, Amelia and Hairy will pop out of their magic basket sharing the best answers to the preschooler's curiosities. In this world, there is little more powerful than watching new discoveries through a child's eyes. The views ahead will be bittersweet and I will treasure every glimpse. Please call with questions or for conversation, 419-475-5367.
"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow". Helen Keller
Most Sincerely,
Terri Turner

For over fifty years, Fairgreen Preschool has helped to grow children into caring, inquisitive, learners with the needed skills for entering kindergarten along with positivity, confidence, eagerness, and joy! From the beginning enthusiastic and welcoming years of Joyce Davis, to the present dedicated and tireless leadership of Terri Turner, this school near the corner of Laskey and Secor has been a hallmark in the early childhood education community.
In November, Terri told us of her intentions to retire as the Director of Fairgreen Preschool in June, 2024. As owners of the preschool, the Fairgreen Church's Board of Elders heard exciting and passionate proposals for the possible continuation of the Preschool under a new model of directorship. After a careful and prayerful review, the Board has regrettably determined it is not financially feasible to continue the operation of our Fairgreen Preschool. While we are all deeply saddened by this decision, we are, however, encouraged at the unfolding potential of an excitingly new and different chapter in the continuing life and growth of Fairgreen Church.
We recognize and thank the dedicated and creative staff, past and present, who have built the strong reputation of the Fairgreen Preschool. We are all committed to seeing that the rest of this school year shall go forward as planned. Together, let's look ahead to a springtime celebration of both Terri's retirement and the over five-decade legacy of the Fairgreen Preschool that will certainly involve all the wonderful past and present families, students, friends, and teachers who have made this an incredible, as Terri says, "Happy Place."
We ask God's continued blessing on Terri, all the teachers, Fairgreen Church and on all who have been touched and enriched by the preschool as we go forward.
Sincerely,
The Board of Elders
